Welcome

T

his charity is run by the New Life Church, based in a thickly populated area of the north of Colombo, Sri Lanka. For many years they have been working to improve the lives of impoverished communities in both Tamil and Singalese areas of the country. Since the Tsunami, their work has expanded to include medical clinics in refugee camps and the provision of thousands of sacks of food and supplies.

T

hey are now raising the money to build several villages, in consultation with the Sri Lankan government, and with land donated by the government. They are also arranging and funding operations for several refugee children to enable them to lead a normal healthy life

T

he charity differs from the large, internationally known organisations in four important ways:

1.

It is run by Sri Lankan people for Sri Lankan people. The local knowledge, local contacts, and longterm relationships with both impoverished communities, and those in Government, make this charity a unique and efficient force for change.

2.

It is small and efficient. The driving force behind the charity, is Pastor Sanna Rajepakse. He works with a small team of members of his church to respond immediately, providing supplies or medical aid to communites and refugee camps in need. There is no delay caused by chains of meetings, administrative problems, or communication delays within a large organisation or charity.

3.

It has a proven history of successful aid work. The Sri Lankan government, other charities (eg Samaritan’s Purse, Kingscare etc) and the communties who have received the help from this charity, can rely on them to work fast, efficiently, and provide thorough accounts of all donations and expenditure

4.

There are no administration costs. The Church itself is supported entirely by the money donated at the Sunday services, and therefore 100% of the money raised for the charity, is given to the survivors of the Tsunami.
